Roof Material not rendering. only showing unlying roof support

I have a separate object sitting on top of the roof support, but for some reason I cant get it to render. You can see in the side view it is actually sitting on top and not underneath. I'm also including the max file for anyone to hopefully figure this out.  you cann in the one render how high I have to raise it before it will actually show up.
