Hi there,

I'm having an issue with the 3ds Max Physical camera focusing.

If the focus is set to target distance and positioned on the object, the render will be perfectly in focus both in the IR and in a final single frame.

However, if I animate the camera moving while maintaining focus on an object, any given still frame will render in focus, but when set to render a frame range, the focus will drift until completely out of focus by the end of the frames. I hope that makes sense?

I seem to have this issue on every new file for the last few weeks but only recently began rendering animations out.
I have recreated the issue in a new file that I will attach along with demonstration frames.

I am using Corona renderer 6 hotfix 1 on 3ds Max 2021. (I had this same issue before hotfix 1).
PC specs: AMD threadripper 3960x, 64gb ram, 1050ti.

I can provide any more info as needed. Pretty sure I have probably checked something that shouldn't be and I am completely missing it!

Thanks,
Sam

Simplest answer would seem to be to use a Corona Camera instead.

Hi,

Yes, using corona camera does fix it, thank you.  I tend to use max physical cam out of habit.

Is the max physical cam not supported any more as I believe my issue has only been happening since Corona 6?
Interestingly, using CoronaCameraMod modifier on a physical camera still has the same issue.

Thanks,
Sam

The CoronaCameraModifier is no longer updated, it's only there for legacy reasons (if you load a really old scene). Other cameras were never fully supported, it was always recommended to use the CoronaCamera for maximum flexibility and compatibility :)
