Render limit is a render stopping condition in Corona which you have to set, so that renderer would know when to stop rendering. There is 3 render limits in Corona - pass, time and noise. You can find them in render setup - scene tab. If you don't set any render limit, Corona will be rendering one frame indefinitely and you won't be able to render animation.

You should never render directly to AVI file! If anything will go wrong in the middle of rendering process (max crash, loss of power, etc.), you will lose all the work and will have to re-render from the start again. Instead you should always render animation to image sequence and then combine that sequence into video clip outside of 3ds max.
