Hey Corona Community and Dev`s;

So happy about Caustics but some strange things happenend in a recent scene:

The Caustics on my water material work really well but there also some caustics on the surrounding flooring which defenitly are coming from the window reflection? But the glass material from the window has no caustics avtivated. Is it possible to exclude the window material from global caustics or am i doing something wrong?

Here is a GIF:

Thanks you!

As soon as the caustic solver is enabled, reflective caustics are activated in reflective materials. Currently you cannot include/exclude objects from caustics, only lights. See

Once the new caustics solver is enabled, Corona will calculate physically realistic caustics for any reflective materials and any refractive materials that have caustics turned on in the material itself.
Note: reflective caustics are always calculated, regardless of the state of the material’s caustics checkbox.

Why do you want to get rid of the window caustics anyway, this is what might look interesting and real in a final image? However, you could render caustics into a render element (only) and comp parts of the caustics with the beauty pass in areas where you would like to have them.

Good Luck

Never underestimate the power of a well placed level one spell.

Thanks for your reply, i just don't feel those reflective caustics, they look a bit weird to me and not just 100 percent real.

Yeah my current workaround is pretty the same. I just render the entire scene without caustics, and then a second render with "render selected" of the water material and comp it in post. Not very agile but works fine.

Does anybody know if this is a planned feature to have a caustics button also in the reflection tab?
