Hi All,

My first post here , :D
In the last couple of month I've worked on a couple of different projects trying to make more then just a rendering.
The idea was to create also a story behind the image.
The render is directly from the corona buffer no Photoshop.

Please enjoy and let me know what you think .

Software : 3ds max 2017, corona render 4.

Technically it's not bad, but I can immediately spot some areas which give it away as a CG image:
- The concrete flower pot texture looks stretched
- 100% black TV screen
- Borders of the carpet with stretched/low-res textures
- The leg of the locker under the TV looks weird, it could be like that, but it would be an inconvenient design. You could break your toe on it. :)
- There are some jagged edges / hard pixels on the mirror geometry.

I am also not sure about the staring bear photo. It's very distracting.

I am sorry for this, but I also don't get what the story could be. I have no idea what's up with the lady's reflection in the mirror.

Thanks Maru for your reply .

-Yeah you are right the pot texture is a little bit stretched
-According to the albedo map  there is no pure  white and no black in the image so probably you need a better monitor.;)
-The image from the carpet is not low res but maybe the  displacement map is not working that well.
-If you don't like the leg of the TV cabinet send them an email, maybe they can change it .
-The photo in the back was made by  famous photographer  David Yarrow. ( https://davidyarrow.photography/) Check him out !
-I've checked the edge of the mirror it is just the  bump.
-and for the last point  I'm sorry but I can't help you that.

Thanks again.

The color sampled from the TV screen ranges between RGB 2 and 4. I am using a factory-calibrated Dell U2515H. But anyway, that was not my point. I only meant that it is a large dark shape visible by the edge of the image.
I am sorry if my post was offensive to you. I honestly didn't intend that. I am just used to providing constructive feedback.

I made some small changes according to your comments. I remade the carpet with fur, this time but I kind off lost the details that I had before .I also saved the albedo map so you can see the burned area and the dark one, as you probably see there is a little bit in the carpet and the books  next to the bed.
I don't mind constructive critic but I do mind sharp teeth.
No hard feelings.
Cheers. :)

I agree with most what maru said and especially about person's reflection in the mirror. It looks rather odd, almost like some ghost. Also check the door's frame molding - it looks like there's some issue with smoothing.

The most CG looking in the image are the door hinges. :) The metal and those screws that have zero gap to the holes they sit in.
Maybe apply some displacement to the plant pot? The structures in it look too flat.

The bear indeed is quite dominant in the composition... but I suppose it is part of your concept, so one does not immediately discover that lady in the mirror.

All in one a very nice image and very well lit.

May I ask if you used the Corona Sky & Sun or an HDR ?
That lighting in your image looks super pleasant!

In my humble opiniom in corona you don't need any other hdri then Corona Sky. In this case I used also the Corona Sun .I hope you  find this helpful,

Hey. Thanks a lot for your opinion & sharing your experience. Always very interesting to hear such things.

I mostly use HDRs since they provide a more colorful and "natural" light. However, I must admit that lately I more and more look at those cleaner lighting with a basic blueish tint and controlled sun,
like in the render you posted.
Especially the blueish tint from the sky is useful for depicting "neutral" whites and greys.

However, I made the experience that some HDRs rendered faster than the same light setting with the Corona Sky&Sun.
Especially in the IR.

Regards.

Had a look at it. That's super great looking! Amazing!
Will be in the C4D version of Corona 6, too ?
If not, that would be mean! :)

Just asking because some guy in that thread about the new sky model wrote something like it will first come for Max...
Thanks for responding to my "stupid" question. :)
