Hi guys!
I'm new to this forum and recently joined the corona family and I absolutely love it.

I would loove to get some help from you guys as I'm buying myself a new PC, and I'm really not that much of a computer enthusiast and I don't want to make a mistake.

So I've done my homework, been google-ing about CPUs, GPUs and stuff a lot lately, but still I'm not totally sure what to get, so I know you guys are far more experienced than me, so please, help me.

So at the moment I'm using a few years old laptop which doens't work well enought and I get a lot of lagging moving my 3D models  and rendering takes forever.

I decided, to buy a computer for arround 2k euros.

Now i'm in the dilema, picking up the right CPU and GPU for my needs.

My biggest wish is, that my modeling would be smooth, withoug lagging so much as i’m losing my mind right now trying to model even simple scenes with a few models inside. I don't mind if my rendering would take a little more time if it would comepnsate for a smoother modeling in 3ds max. As far as I know, 3ds max is a single threaded program and corona would use all threads? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Right now, my shopping list includes:
GPU: PALIT GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER GamingPro OC 8GB GDDR6
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3,8/4,6GHz 64MB AM4
with 32GB RAM memory.

Now what bothers me, is the battle in the same price range CPU's between like intel i9-9900K @ 3,6GHz  vs AMD Ryzen 9 3900X @ 3,8 GHz
If you look at the single thread performance, the i9-9900K has 2998 single thread rating  and the AMD has just a "few" less : 2721 rating.
but if you look at overall performance, the AMD takes it all down, AMD Ryzen 9 3900X has 32837 while the i9-9900K has "only" 18957.
eventhough the i9 is more expensive and I don't know why..

What I would like to know is, how much more important is that 200 points in single thread rating, and is it worth buying the i9 then, eventhough the AMD has almost twice as much points at overall CPU rating?

Here is the link, comparing those two exact CPU at passmark: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/AMD-Ryzen-9-3900X-vs-Intel-i9-9900K/3493vs3334

Oh and what do you think about my GPU, is it really so important, to get  it that expensive, or is the CPU far more imporntant and I could get a cheaper one?

I hope i'm not annoying with this post, if there are more posts like this arround.
Thanks everybody for  any help.
Stay safe,
M

Hi there!

I'll just drop few things from my end just to encourage experts to write something :)

If I were you I would:
-take AMD
-buy gtx 2060 super (it's less powerful but it still has 8 Gigs of ram and it's cheaper) unless you wish to use GPU for rendering.
-add another 32Gb of ram.

TH

Hi. I agree with twoheads suggestions + I would take the Ryzen 9 3950x instead of the 3900x.

Hope it helps

Juraj Talcik is one of the most competent people here in hardware section so wait for his response. :)
He will definitely show you the way...

Right Juraj?

I would do the same but there is noticable price difference between 3900x and 3950x.
