I just installed Corona trial for R21 in the hope of finding a renderer I can use at home on my iMac 5K (i7 - 32GB - AMD Radeon R9 4GB)

My scene has a lot of content, and as soon as I try to render through picture viewer as a PNG sequence C4D crashes. See bug report attached.

I can render single frames in the viewport, or through Picture Viewer successfully. The crash only happens when trying a sequence.
If I remove half the content, C4D still crashes. If I remove all the geometry, no crash.

Is there a way to determine what geometry might be causing this crash, without removing batches of items and attempting the render over?

Any help appreciated!

I ran out of ideas so I had to start batch removing layers to find the bad one. I found it, just a simple cube with an animated z-scale. I've hidden the layer and it's rendering fine now.

If anyone has time, is there anything in that bug report that states why it would be causing the crash on frame 1? The actual scale animation was due around 90F.

Scrap that, it's happening again and the crash seems to happen whenever an item appears (goes visible) and animates in. Any ideas?

Hi, I had a look at your scene and it crashes for me when rendering. I also tried to copy the entire scene to a new one and it renders fine without any crashes. Maybe this trick might work for you too?

Thanks for the tip! It worked on that particular scene for a while, still had a crash on one frame where a 'visible' keyframe comes in but worked around that.

It's now happening on my second scene, I tried copying into a fresh project but I get the same crash on 'Preparing Geometry' every time. If I disable all displacement on my materials, it seems to render fine.
Is there anything I should be looking at in Corona settings to overcome any displacement issues? Or anything to be wary of with displacement behaviour in Corona?
