Hi,

Let me start of by saying I'm a graphic designer at core and don't have a massive depth of 3D knowledge however thanks to the amazing ease of use of Cinema 4D + Corona it has allowed me to expand into product visualisation to aid my work.

I'm having an issue that appears to be caused by using displacement on a corona shader. The displacement map is from an 8bit 300dpi 4000px x 4000px PSD file. The file is essentially some text and shapes with 1% gaussian blur to add an emboss/raised area and then an overall paper texture.

Im getting artifacting on the label of my product. It is only appearing on the side that is in less light, however there is still some jagged displacement seen to the left of the attached image.

Settings are 30cm x 20cm at 300dpi, and the displacement settings in corona is set at a world size of 0.01cm however this still happened at 0.001cm if I remember correctly. Displacement in the material is 0cm min, 0.25cm max

Any help on how to stop this would be much appreciated as this is fine when printed small in brochures however when it is needed for banners / large advertisements it will become an issue.

Thank you in advance!

Jamie

displacement basic 101 - (like with color precision in print which causes banding) the higher the bit depth, the less artifacts you get
so if possible go with at least 16bit
in your case, first change the bit depth, after apply the blur and get soft transition

also, welcome & enjoy
