What are the best practices for animation rendering with respect to the .CXR file format and the VFB in general?

For still images, of course we can render the image and then tweak the image tone mapping in the VFB after the fact. Is this possible for animations in Corona; the Corona VFB does not allow for image sequence playback (afaik), so I assume not(?)

Is it possible to store animations in the .CXR file format?

You can save the animation as a sequence of images files for CXR. To apply post, you can use the CIE with batch processing (https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000030886-what-is-the-corona-image-editor-#batch), which can also save them to, say, PNGs instead so you can then import the image sequence into a video compositing tool to make the final animation format. This isn't WYSIWYG of course since it's all done in batch, so you don't see the results til the batch script has run.

CXR is basically EXR on steroids, so it has "the same" animation capabilities. Currently there is no animation preview in Corona VFB or CIE.
