Im not sure on the technicalities of this, But its currently not that easy to process CXR files. They have to be individually opened to save out a different format. Not only that but if you open it as an EXR for the sake of batching and save out another format, the tonemapping settings of the CXR are obviously lost meaning it produces an image with the tonemapping at its default settings. Im guessing this is due to the tonemapping settings being saved as additional EXR attributes.

For what is a very powerful filetype it would be really nice to be able to batch process them a little better expecially when you're working in a studio pipeline and have to do the exact same steps dozens of times per day just to save out a TIF. A Batch tool inside CIE would be great so it only needs to be opened once. It would be great to be able to save out multiple filetypes and resolutions on the fly as well as specifying output folders and naming conventions.

Are you aware of the CXR batch script?

It does most of what your describe. It's not in-built, but it's pretty powerful and helpful for day-to-day work, animations and final production renders.

It does, however, still have its limitations...

I couldn't get it to work until I realised that the most recent batch script available doesn't have the correct file path for the image editor. All is good
