Hi. I've just upgraded all the office machines to Corona 5, but some of the render nodes won't start at all.
After launching the DR application I can see that it opens/hangs on the " -postRenderScript:"C:\Users\backburner\AppData\Local\CoronaRenderer\DrData\post.ms"" and then the status changes to "CLOSED" . It states that Corona is not found on the machine. I've double checked the installation and all the files are ok. The licensing is ok as well. There's only one difference in the offending nodes, that they are Windows 7 based.

Please, I need urgent help with this.

This is the LOG file:

I know that sharing ready-made templates may be a bit discouraging, but they really do help people, so please try at least few of them:

Based on some rare user reports about Win7 issues:

- Fully update your Windows and then restart your computer (use the regular Windows Update option; if you are using Windows 7 or 8, the best solution is upgrading to Windows 10)
- Uninstall Corona Renderer from the Windows "Programs" list. Then check for any leftovers in your 3ds Max installation folder (the list of files can be found here: How to install Corona Renderer manually using the "unpack files" option?). Then remove C:\Program Files\Corona folder. Then remove C:\Users\_username_\AppData\Local\CoronaRenderer folder. Then install Corona Renderer 5 again.
- Rename your 3ds Max ENU folder - https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Resetting-3ds-Max-3ds-Max-Design.html
- If the above points did not help, try uninstalling 3ds Max and installing it again.

Based on various DR issues:

- Disable any antivirus software you are using on all PCs (including Windows Defender and Firewall) - this is just to check if the issue is related to this software. You can then turn it back on.
- Open your scene, go to Render Setup, deselect the small "lock" icon in the top right corner. Click on any viewport, then click on the viewport you want to render again. Enable the "lock" icon in the top right corner of the Render Setup window again. Resave your scene. Unlocking and locking viewport like this sometimes helps with DR issues.
- Refresh the 3ds Max ENU folder by either renaming or removing it. Note that this will remove all your custom ui settings, keyboard shortcuts, etc, so it is best to leave a backup of the ENU folder.
See: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Resetting-3ds-Max-3ds-Max-Design.html

If the above 3 points did not help, here are some other ones wort trying:

- Add custom inbound/outbound rules in Windows Firewall.
See: Creating custom inbound and outbound rules for the DR Server application
- Are you using some VPN software? If so, please stop using it and make sure you are using BB/DR on a "classic" local network.
- Do not mix Corona's DR and Backburner. Use only one or the other.
- Make sure on each computer there is only one instance of: 3ds Max, DR server, Backburner. If there are multiple instances running at the same time (for example two 3dsmax.exe processes), some issues may appear.
- Do not render from perspective view - use some kind of camera, preferably Corona Camera.
- Disable IPv6.
See: https://medium.com/@JockDaRock/disabling-ipv6-on-network-adapter-windows-10-5fad010bca75
- Go to Windows Services list and make sure "Function Discovery Provider Host" and "Function Discovery Resource Publication" are started. Set them to automatic start.
- Make sure you have network discovery enabled.

Hi. Thanks for the tips, but I already did all of your suggestions prior to posting on the forum.
What's bothering me is that with the previous Corona RC there were no issues, so I'm concluding it's somehow related to the new release.
Upgrading those nodes to windows 10 or reinstalling 3ds Max is not an option at the moment.

I don't see how unlocking the render viewport has anything to do with this?

As I mentioned before, the DR server won't star on it's own. It has nothing to do with any active scene.

Is there any log file I can look into to try and figure what the heck is going on?

Hi,

There were no changes to the DR application between the RC phase and Corona 5 Release.

Can I just double check that the Windows 7 machines are fully up to date?

Can I also double check that you have completely removed Corona i.e. making sure that the files in C:\Program Files\Corona no longer exist and then reinstalled Corona?

Thanks,

Rowan

I did all of it.
I actually started Max on one of the machines and it (somehow) worked since I never started it.
Well, i got the .dll error for all corona files plus when Max actually started it stated that Corona was missing....
It's the same Max version as on all other machines.
