wanted to try a new Corona 4 for caustics. on a free demo license.

the first problem the license reset every time after exiting 3d max.

the second problem is my scene (simple glass bottles, c_sun, c_lights) in the new Corona, the just freezes and crashes.

through a very long selection, I found out that the new Corona simply does not want to work with lights. moreover, these lights are Corona including the sun. if i leave the geometry, add c_environment everything works. As a matter of fact, I turn on one of the Corona Light sources, framebuffer freezes first and then max crashes.

the third problem I could not delete every time the Corona 4 because a dll file was not found in the temp folder.

so I did not see the caustic in my scenes.

The one (and only) good thing about crashes is they create a minidump, which lets the developers know exactly what crashed and what was happening at the time (if you send it to us, that us :) ). See https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000524006-how-to-report-issues-3ds-max which has details of where to find the minidump, how to submit a ticket, and the private uploader to send us things like the scene and the minidump.

The page also describes extra info we'd need, such as version of 3ds Max and OS.

For the license resetting, can you explain what you mean when you say it resets? The 45 day trial doesn't ask for any log in etc for using it, so I am not sure what else you mean by resets (normally, I would take that to mean it asks for the login details each time you start Max).

Thanks!

Actually, also of interest here - did you ever have a previous version of Corona installed, demo or full? If so, which version (and was it demo or full)?

Thanks guys. Now I have already launched the final render, without caustics. I’ll try yours methods in a couple of days.

installed on a second computer. first, the license crashed upon exit. but I clicked the delete license button, and activated the demo. everything is fine. opened my current scene with a glass and bottle (on which max crashed) all OK. Promlem in my system is 100%.

win7 64
corona 3.2 previous
max 2020.2

Hi,

Can I confirm that you are no longer experiencing the crashes?

Thanks,

Rowan
