Hi.
I am starting learning 3DS and Corona.
Every time i need to interactive render it crashes 3DS Max. (file is not so complex. 17,128KB large).
Its a simple space. 3 windows. 3 corona light rectangular behind the windows. One sofa and a small table. Its a sample for study lights.
How can i tune interactive render to use less computing resources and/or lower the resolution on interactive render?

I have a 7 years old laptop. I think its still a beast, but not so certain for 3DS and Corona
intel i7 2.5 - 3.4 Ghz
GTX 780M 4GB
16GB Ram DDR3
SSD 250GB

This machine still rocks modeling in Rhino and render Vray. / Autocad / Sketchup / Adobe photohop / illustrator / indesign, etc, etc..

What i need to do...
Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
Since your graphic card is pretty old, it could be that it doesn't support Nvidia optix denoiser. Try to turn off denoiser for interactive rendering (not to confuse with denoiser for regular rendering) and see if Max still crashes.

Hi.
Thanks for trying to help.
Yap... it is in fact from Denoiser.
I have made some tests on a new a clean 3DS instance and just a plane with a simple box without lights just Scene white color. PUFFFF it crashes again.
IT is possible to work in IR with denoiser always OFF. Does this solve? Or i need to invest on a current machine/ desktop?

You can turn off denoiser and save render settings to defaults. Here's how to do that:
  • turn off preview denoiser in render setup performance tab
  • go to system tab>system settings and check enable dev/debug mode
  • go back to performance tab, open dev/debug rollout and press save defaults button
That's it, from now on every fresh scene will start with denoiser turned off. Just keep in mind, that whenever you'll install new version of Corona, you'll have to resave your defaults. of course, getting more recent Nvidia graphics card is also good idea, because realtime denoiser in interactive rendering, is just amazing :]
