DrServer suspended by windows

Hi all,

Apologies; this isn't a Corona problem but rather a Windows 10 thing...

Today my SSD drive died, so I took it as a good opportunity to finally update to Windows 10. All went well, I installed DrServer and Corona Image Editor (I didn't install the Corona plug-in for 3DSmax as this PC is solely a slave).

However, DRserver will not open. CIE works fine. When I try to open DrServer, it appears momentarily in the Task Manager, then sometimes gets listed as 'suspended' then disappears without ever actually opening.

My Windows 10 skills are very limited. What the hell is going on!?

If the machine is going to render, it will need Corona installed for Max, even if it's just a slave (Max will run in "rendering only" mode, and needs the Corona plugin).

Also, the DR Server just hands out licensing and oversees the exchange of data, it doesn't actually do any rendering.

Well that makes me feel pretty dumb then. I guess that makes a lot of sense that I need max installed.

(Out of interest, why would/should it be possible to even install DRserver if the installer doesn't detect 3dsmax? I know it already checks for 3dsmax as it auto-ticks the correct version(s) upon opening the Corona installer...)

It should be possible to run the DR Server on any machine, even one that won't be involved in rendering - since it just "manages" all the machines, it wouldn't actually need Max itself. But it would need the Corona license (which may be why it was closing down, if it couldn't find Corona on the network, and didn't have the licensing info stored on the machine it was running on).
