Hi guys. So I encountered a very strange problem in Corona, 3dsmax. I have a big scene with 30m+ polygons and everything was right until I installed Corona 4 from daily build section. I loved the new features but it started crashing 3dsmax on random occasions so I reverted back to Corona3 hotfix2 (by which I am satisfied). Now I reopened the scene and the textures are loaded in asset trackers, but in Coronabitmap section it says "no such file!" (see attached image) which I have to reload by clicking the button manually. Is there any automatic system to reload all textures? Or any root cause of this issue?
Please help

Hi!

It would be great to get some more information

- The minidump from the crash with the daily build installed would be very useful, so we can see what caused that. Sounds like there needs to be a fix in the daily build. Please use the private uploader at https://corona-renderer.com/upload, and include the link to this forum post. Info on where to find the minidump is at https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000524006-how-to-report-issues-3ds-max

- Which version of 3ds Max, what OS, any third party plugins used or installed?

- Not sure if you will have time to test, but is this reproducable if you install Corona 4 daily, create a Corona Bitmap pointing to a file, apply that in a material to some simple object like a cube, save the scene, install Corona 3, and load the scene? Or is it just in this one scene?

- If you can share the scene, that could be great too, can use the private uploader for that (can zip scene and minidump together).

It could be that the changes to Corona Bitmap in Corona 4 are causing this when the scene is loaded under Corona 3, we will investigate.

Thanks!

Hi!

Just following up on this, to see if you could send in the scene and minidump from the crash?

A note about forward compatibility - this is something we cannot ever guarantee. That means, taking a scene created in a new version of Corona and loading it into an older version of Corona; that may not work. We do try to maintain backward compatibility (loading a scene from an older version of Corona into a newer version). All the same, it would be good to take a look into the crash to see just what was happening, but we'd need that extra details from you before we can do that - it may not be a crash that is avoidable if it is a forward compatibility issue, but it could be something else of course, but we couldn't say for sure without the minidump and preferably the scene.

Thanks!

Thanks Tom for following up. I am way ahead of that problem now. Someone from Corona team helped me with this problem by suggesting a plugin "Relink Bitmap" which worked perfectly and instantly reloaded all the bitmaps. I'll surely keep you guys posted with errors or bugs in future. Frankly, I didn't new how to generate minidumps previously, but now I do.

That's the important thing, that you got it all working, cool! Always good to know how to find/generate the minidump for in the future :) And also to keep in mind that anything saved in a new version of Corona may not work as intended when going back to an older version (so always keep a backup saved in the older version before saving from the newer version :) )

Cheers, and good luck with the project!
