Hi.

Could anyone check this scene to see why I get a higher noise level and render times WITH portals than without please?

Really appreciate it.

Looked at it, intriguing. Have given up using portals a while ago, so I'm not entirely sure about what should be the result in current versions. But definitely not this :)

Good Luck

I rendered it last night , and it was very noisy.
The lighting has to be the issue, have reset the rendering setting to default and see if that helps.

I tried all sorts of things. Reset one of them.
Reset materials to grey.
Deleted all object that are on the way...
As far as I can see the portals are placed correctly. I re-did them a couple of times.
Nothing.

Tech support please?

Portals aren't silver bullet. There are scenarios where they work great and there are, where they don't. If your scene renders faster without portals, then simply don't use them.

Romullus is right but this scenario is exactly what portals are made for imho. And there is no difference using sun&sky or some hdri in this (simple) scene - always worse with portals.

The link to the scene has disappeared - if it might be a bug, and Frood suggests it might be from when he tested it so it may not be a "I Need Help" issue any more, best thing is to open a ticket and upload the scene via our private uploader: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000524006-how-to-report-issues-3ds-max
