sorry i know noise is a constant bane of our lives and usually the denoiser does its job, but for some reason i have an area of the room that the denoiser seems to be less effective, i have checked and the material is the same on the panelling,
The region circled red left of the fireplace is fine, but the right side is pretty noisey
any ideals ?
I'm using R2.0.
cheers

Is it still present when you turn off DOF?

How many passes did you render? Is there a bump map on the material which is noisy?

aghhh, basic error,
I had a bump on the wood panels but turned it off, but had two mat slots with same mats in them one with bump unchecked the other bump enabled, this happened as i imported objects from the kitchen scene
 looks much better now :-)
cheers

So it's another case of "denoiser preserving bump maps is not really wanted". Thanks for confirming.
