Trying to emulate the effect of flash photograph as seen in some recent work by Cem Tezcan. I have attached a recent attempt, but I appreciate any input the community can offer.

It's actually fairly easy to achieve. Create a small light - a flash might be as small as 1cm across to a bit bigger, smaller may render longer), place it somewhere close to your camera, looking at the same direction as your camera, too... that's it. You may have to increase intensity a lot. Don't forget to use directionality, this one will add the falloff towards image borders and is quite important for the flash look.

Right, this is *exactly* how it is implemented in the example render. I suppose the trick is to continue playing with directionality and perhaps the light source diameter.

It looks like the light source is placed exactly where the camera is, but this is impossible in real life. Move it ab bit over the lens for example, a slight shadow will definitely help. Yes, directionality is crucial. Also, hot spots in reflections are important, make sure the light is visible to reflections.
