I work for Solatube a Tubular Skylight company and we have made BSDF files of some of our products. These are special light files that are similar to IES files but allow for time of day and location on the planet. I do not know how to use them. I have seen some mention of BSDF here on older forum posts but nothing that tells me that these files can be used in Corona.

Does anyone know if these files can be used in Corona?

Please see the links below. the first one is to our general resources page and the second is a direct link to the BSDF files in a ZIP file.

https://www.solatube.com/support/technical-resources-list

If you scroll down to

Bidirectional Spectral Distribution Function Data Files - and click the down arrow you will see the following in a link.

https://static-assets-solatube.s3.amazonaws.com/field/files/tech_resources/Solatube%20DS-RadianceBSDF-2018-4-25_1.zip

I have also attached the BSDF files

If these files can be used we would like to speak with you.

Thanks for your input.

From what i learn in Google it's more like HDRI light first iteration, it looks like low resolution hdri dome, was develop by the same company what  create HDRI, this term was introduces in 1980 and in wiki it mention how it works in CG with Phong, Blinn–Phong, so this thing is very old, i am doubt what you may use it in now days. To me even site with BSDF viewer is not working

Ok - Thanks - I know that for high end rendering they may not be very interesting but what is important is to show the actual light on the surfaces. From what I understand these files can show this. I also understand that these files can be used in Rhino/Diva 40 Radiance rendering system.
