It looks like this user was having the same issue: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=13142.0

The render submission started at 10:25am yesterday. I came in today and it said it had only been rendering for a few hours. The 'Started' time in the job summary was 6:29am this morning. I'm assuming that it's restarting when it finishes. In the errors it says "3dsmax adapter error : Ping task timeout." at 6:25am.

Is there a chance that it wrote the file before it restarted? It's not in render output path. I checked the 'Jobs' Backburner folder and there's a .zip that's about half a gig, but it looks empty and extractors don't recognize it. Could it be hidden in there somewhere?

edit: I'm using the noise threshold to stop the render.

After troubleshooting I found an xref in Asset Tracking pathed to my local drive. The xref wasn't in the scene but the path was still there for some reason. A quick test render worked correctly.

As a side note, I found that getting rid of the ghost path fixed an issue with IR in this scene where it would sort of stutter step and randomly restart.

This should not prevent BB to render that scene/frame correctly, you just get a warning about a missing asset in such a case. Looking at backburnerserver.log and max.log may reveal something useful.

For me it looks as the standard 10h rendering timeout of BB. Have you set explicitly a different (custom) timeout while submitting to BB?

Good Luck

That's interesting about the 10 hour timeout for Backburner. I guess the test worked because it didn't take 10 hours.

Here's the log for this job:

Thanks for the help. No I only it set for a noise threshold, I haven't changed anything else from how I normally render.

It must be the 10 hour timeout, I found where that can be changed in advanced settings. I guess I've never submitted a job that took over 10 hours via Backburner

Yes, that's what I suspected. Good thing is that if you set it once in advanced settings, it keeps those values.
