After rendering several shots with multipasses we figured only a few of all the shots would have passes rendered. The others would only have the beauty pass rendered. The shots were rendered on the same machine and all with the same configuration. When started the same shot with the same config on a different machine, the renders would have multipasses. Rendering the same shot again on the second machine the multipasses would fail again.

This is very anoying after we rendered the shots on a farm and spend money for it!

Please solve this issue.

Unfortunately, we'd need more details before being able to look into a fix. For example, is this all scenes, or just one specific scene? Can you upload the scene (there's the private uploader if it can't be shared publicly - https://corona-renderer.com/upload). What are the specs of the different machines? For rendering, do you mean rendering locally on each machine (running C4D and loading the scene and rendering), or was this sent across some sort of network rendering solution (e.g TeamRender)? We'd need to know which passes you were using too, but uploading the scene would give all that sort of information.

I uploaded the file onto your dropbox.

It was rendered on a single machine with the following specs:

Mac Pro (Late 2013)
2.7 GHz 12-Core Intel Xeon E5
64 GB RAM
Cinema 4D R19.053

No team-render was used.

We previously tried to render the shots on ranchcomputing.com. Because we thought the error may has occured on the farm we tried to render the shot local – with the same result. Or what is even worse, the shot (take) rendered on a different machine with the same specs worked – but after failed on other takes.
