How many types of passes are active in the multipass? Does reducing the number of them still make the animation crash?

Also, what format are you rendering to? jpg/png sequence or a video format?

Multi-pas sis active in my default new file. I did not get time to check on which multip-pass option it quits.
I did a video 14:28min.... with and without multi-pass, c4d quits like sudden death.

PM sent.

Thanks, saw your vid. I think you should render as an image sequence rather than a .mov. If rendering a video file and the system crashes you will lose the entire video. If rendering a sequence and it crashes you will only lose that frame being rendered and not all of them and can pick up from that frame again. The sequence can easily be compiled in your choice of editing software later on. Not to mention you will have more freedom if working with various passes.

You don't need after effects, you can use QuickTime to save the sequence to a vid. I don't see any use in using the multipass if rendering a video. ;)

Before/after pictures and the settings(pic) could help.
