Are there any disadvantages for using UNC paths over Mapped drive letters?
We are reorganising our server at work and we are going to have to face into some issues around legacy projects and textures anyway so i want to consolidate our crazy amount of mapped drives down.

Hello :)

Not that I know of. I've sticked to UNC for years now, and it solved many problems, and never brought new ones AFAIK.

Well yes, we are using UNC for a (very) long time now, not only in max but all applications and throughout the project structure and it saved us from having many problems seen elsewhere.

The only "disadvantage" I can think of is, that usually the UNC path starts with the name of a serving computer. So it's not as easy as using mapped drives to change the target machine/file structure. But this is no more valid as soon as you setup a distributed file system setup behind the share(s).

Good Luck
