What do i do with a scene ive been handed that hasnt got gamma enabled but uses colour selector colours?
As soon as i enable it the bitmap materials are fine but every colour in the scene washes out completely and im not sure what to do or how to fix it.
Ive tried unchecking affect colour selector and affect material editor but they seem to affect nothing i can see.

Thanks

Try to follow this article and you should be able to solve the gamma issues: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000515647-how-to-configure-gamma-

Are you sure there is solution to his problem there Romulus ? I can't see anything of that sort.

Vray used to have "Linearize" option in render settings so that you could render linearly old shit scenes setup pre-gamma without messing stuff up and converting everything.

I am not sure, but MAYBE going to 3ds Max gamma settings and setting gamma to 2,2 and disabling the "affect color selectors" and "affect material editor" checkboxes would help?
Another idea would be messing with input and output gamma that you can find at the bottom of this guide (maybe this is what Romullus meant):

Gamma controls in 3ds Max are a nightmare, and I hope to see them go some day...

As for changing it in the ini file it was already set to the correct amounts. Its like you can have one way or another. Either the corona bitmaps are too dark (but weirdly the max ones are fine) or the colour selectors are washed out.

Still having weird issues with colours. My gamma is 2.2 If i use a diffuse colour its completely washed out on the material but not in the swatch. If i use a corona colour node and uncheck the linear checkbox it works fine but the standard colour picker seems incorrect?

Can you post your CurrentDefaults.ini file here?

Ok, try this:
1) Close 3ds Max
2) Open that file again in its original location
3) Change:
from:

CorrectColorPickerState=0

to

CorrectColorPickerState=1

4) Save
5) Close notepad
6) Run 3ds Max
7) See if it helped

Did that and reopened the scene i was working on and any material that was using a bitmap as a diffuse is now completely transparent. Ive had this happen quite alot in the past and pretty much always erratically.
Never figured out a way to fix it and only happens in default shaded view. However when i recheck the linear button in the corona colour node it works as it should now which is good

I thin everything is fine now after a restart. Must have been a gpu issue (noticing a few with gtx 1080s in max and cad)
