Carpaint coat technique issue

Hey

So i looked at the carpaint presets for how to create a clearcoat on my tile material.
Im trying to make a glossy tile material. I have set it up exactly like the carpaint in terms of maps into the layered material. My only my problem is that i cant get the end result to work.
I want gloss on the tile and not on the grout. I can only achieve chrome grout and no gloss on the tile.
What i dont understand is how the carpaint material only recieves reflections from the coat layer. Mine just shows as the chrome.

Can anyone help?

I figured this out eventually. For anyone in the future with the same issue your mask has to be very dark for the reflections to show through without affecting the rest of the material

There are several ways to do it, i'm attaching screenshot of one version.
Regarding clearcoat, its mask should be fallof map, if you'll remove it, your setup will be always wrong.

Ooh very nice! never thought of adding the grout as a layer although i suppose it makes sense!

You're welcome. It is perfectly possible to do tiles and grout as single material, but i think that setup in my previous post is a bit easier to manage and comprehend.

For sure, it certainly makes sense to separate it.
