Hi all,

I'm having issue with getting volumetric light/ god-rays to work in my scene.
I have searched the forums and followed the instructions but still no luck.

If my volume distance settings are below 500 then the scene renders orange/black.
I have the global volume checkbox ticked.
I am wanting volumetric light to spill in from the windows on the left and produce god rays in the room but cannot figure out why it's not working?!

Here is a link to the working file:
https://we.tl/wcRYEqraml

I have also attached a screenshot of a draft render, the light settings and the volume settings to help explain the situation

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks guys

Your scattering color is black, so no scattering is taking place.

The red color is because Absorption is VERY sensitive to small changes in brightness or color satutation. It should be 254,254,254 in most cases (not pure white, else no effect will show up). The color should mostly come from the color of the light, but you can tweak the absorption color just a little. Scattering color is not as sensitive, and can be used a bit more freely.

For other suggestions - to emphasize the god rays, ensure the sun is much brighter than the sky, you may not even need the sky at all. Since the rays are not pointing toward the camera, and high directionality scatters the light in the direction it was travelling, probably set this to the default of 0 (otherwise, less light will be scattered toward the camera).
