Just noticed this today, we setup the output files to be 16-bit TIFFs and while all the render elements came out as 16-bit, the light mix and light select elements were only 8-bit.

Thanks for reporting this, we will look into it.

Have you tried with some other file format? (exr?)

I was not able to reproduce it. All TIFs save as 16-bit. Max 2018 and 07.04 daily build of Corona here.
Can you provide exact description of what you are doing?

In our case the outputs were rendered via backburner.  It was just set output as 16-bit TIFF, enable some lightmix elements, hit render and then you'd end up with 8-bit elements. Similarly, if you set to 32-bit, they end up as 24-bit.

We used max 2016 and 1.7.4 for this project.

Hi Dippndots, unfortunately we were not able to reproduce this issue (using 3ds Max 2018 and newest daily build of Corona).
If you are able to reproduce it consistently, could you please provide exact steps about what you are doing and what happens, preferably in points?

Here is what I tried:
1. Set the main output to xxx.tif, selected 16-bit (tried with both 16-bit options).
2. Then set up LightMix so that all required elements are created.
3. Set pass limit.
4. Then submitted the job to BB.
5. After the rendering, the files were correctly saved in the specified location.
6. Opened the tif files in PS.
7. They are all 16-bit.

Ok, I'm gonna lay the blame at the feet of my colleague, because I just tested it as well, and got the same result you did, all the channels are 16-bit. Hope you didn't waste too much time.

Better safe than sorry, so no problem at all!

I'm moving this to resolved, but definitely do re-open this if you encounter anything similar again.
