Going from my 2x 2696v3 workstation to my lady's 4790k I find the viewport performance to be a tad faster (in terms of a couple of FPS), Photoshop / Affinity does some stuff slightly faster (like dragging stuff around I think and applying filters) but ultimately it doesn't affect me at all.

Thanks nkilar! I also don't seem to see any difference between the Xeon's and a 4770K I have laying around here regarding 3ds max performance.

I also second the NVMe placebo regarding 3ds max snappiness. I remember trying the Samsung 950 Pro 256GB NVMe back in July 2016 and didn't notice any difference besides faster file transfers over my 1Tb Samsung 850 Evo.

I don't have any complaints about my dual Xeons 2696v3. They get me 4300CB and are smooth as silk on Corona IR. Though was wondering if one could gain something going to a more capable single thread performant like the 7980XE. Seems not... :)

Gotta get me some Juraj's "Bazaar"...

They’re the carbon fiber road bikes of the computer world!  Appreciate the heads up, I’ll have to keep an eye on ebay.

eBay lately sucked a lot for me. With all the crypto-buyers, prices are jacked up, even higher than Amazon, which is unusual :- ).

I check stuff at price aggregators like German geizhals.eu, and then I check local Bazaars where people sell stuff lot more cheaply because they don't know how to sell internationally.
Maybe I am using the wrong term for this buy I think you know what I mean :- ). The stuff that predated e-bay heh.
