Hi guys,

This time i'm trying to optimize a pretty large scene for animation. The plants cars people are all scattered with corona, and I reduced the number.
I am ok with about 5% noise after 15 minutes of rendering the problem is the big parsing and geometry time of around 11 min per frame. I have disabled displacement, I am using PT+PT and rendering at 720p.

Another thing is this is an older scene done 1 year ago, and a strange thing is parsing works faster on my 5960x with corona 1.7 where I did not get an RAM error message that on my 2x2699v4 with 1.7 hotfix 2 where it goes over 64gb. I also tried to merge everthing in a new scene but it goes even slower.

The plants are not moving but there are a lot of them, do you have any ideas on what more can I do to improve the performance?

if you have proxies, did you try unchecking enable animation?

How detailed are the cars you have in the scene? I recently rendered a project that was VERY basic in it's architectural geometry, a handful of trees and light grass forest pack, but RAM usage and parsing times were absolutely horrendous. I discovered it was because I was using a fair amount of mid-level detail poly cars (high poly exterior, very low poly interior). That could at least be part of your problem here.

Yes I've noticed high poly cars and people were parsing and preventing renders from starting on machines with 128gb of ram

All the proxys are static. The cars did not make a lot of difference, not even the millions of plants in the background. The biggest impact seem to be the trees in the foreground, which are instanced but they are manually placed, not scattered so I don't know if scattering would make a difference.

I got it to decent levels 2min parsing + geometry. I replaced all trees with just two models on which I used pro-optimizer on.
