Hello community,

I`ve just started playing around with light mix and now I am wondering how to use the light mix passes in after effects to sort of animate a dimmed light in a room. It would be cool if some can shed some light on it or point me to a tutorial if there are any.

Cheers
Raoul

If I remember rightly, do not use any tone mapping in Corona so that you export unchanged 32 bit files (EXR, PNG, etc) and then layer these in After Effects, Blackmagic Fusion and so on using Additive mode, and then you can simply vary the opacity of each layer to add or remove a particular light source from the result - animating the opacity will let you turn lights on or off, or have them fade in and fade out, or flicker, etc. You would also then do your tone mapping in the video editor.

EDIT - you'd add each LightSelect into its own layer in your editor, so either save to separate files, or have some means of extracting each layer from a single EXR, depending on your software and your preference for workflow.
