Hey guys,

I have some spare CPUs and was thinking of making use of them to set up a render farm for my work.
My 3d jobs end with texture baking of models in lit scenes and so far I've been doing it one object at a time on my workstation.
So effectively when I leave it to render, I can't continue working on the same scene if I had to.
Is there a way to set up render to texture jobs on distributed rendering? Or is it not available at the moment?
I've scoured the net trying to find step to achieve this but all I could gather was steps for network rendering only for camera shots.
Please and thank you!

Unfortunately neither distributed rendering nor backburner works for baking with Corona currently. Not sure about deadline though.

Good Luck

Does it work for any other renderer? Texture baking is kinda hacked in via maxscript, it does not really have any reasonable support in 3dsmax core...
Rendering is magic. How to get minidumps for crashed/frozen 3ds Max | Sorry for short replies, brief responses = more time to develop Corona ;)

Well yes, and the BakeTextures macro history shows this

Code: [Select]
March 2007 Larry Minton
Added object presets

as last modfication. Have not compared them throughout Max versions - but could be true :)

But:

- BB Baking works with standard renderer and MR, cannot say for others but afaik Vray can bake using BB and (Vray-)DR
- (Corona-) DR baking should work rather independently anyway?

What I get when trying to use BB or DR for baking seems to me like being just a few lines of code away from arrival. Corresponding tickets:
