Hi all,

I'm using Corona 1.6 with 3ds max 2016

I noticed that using the slot "Surface Scattering/Random Distribution/Map:" to control the density has major performance issues that don't exist when applying the same map on, for example, the X transform slot in Transformations/Scale.

I'd use the transform slot except that I want to reduce the amount of instances as opposed to reduce them in scale until they're not visible.

Is this a bug or there's something I'm not doing right?

Thank you.

EDIT: This happens when the distribution object has a large amount of polygons.

Not sure about performance, perhaps you could try to report it as a bug if difference in performance is significant.

I'd use the transform slot except that I want to reduce the amount of instances as opposed to reduce them in scale until they're not visible.

Actually it's the other way round - mapping scale can give you less amount of instances (i guess that zero size instances are culled down), meanwhile density map only redistributes instances, but leaves exactly the same amount of them, unless you will manually adjust count as well.
I'm not Corona Team member. Everything i say, is my personal opinion only.
