My workflow involves composing multiple renders in Photoshop (Mac only)

What are the options for using CRX files?

Cannot import them to PS directly.
Standalone app for MacOS is version 1.5 so cant open CXR files (created with 1.7)

Are there any scripts plugins workarounds you guys can suggest?

The CXR is just an EXR file with some extra data, renaming it to EXR should open it in Photoshop, as one possible immediate solution.
