Hi,

I'm really new to Corona (transitioned from Vray) and have what is probably a really simple problem.

I'm rendering using a corona camera with 'use photographic (ISO)' ticked. I've matched the camera settings to that of my 'in real life' camera but as a result, whatever I do to the camera settings in Corona is changing the background image exposure. I don't want it to change from the original photo...I just want it to alter the lighting of my 3d model.

When 'use simple (EV)' is ticked the background image returns back to its original exposure, but then my 3D model is overexposed....

I've attached the relative images.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You need to nest the background image in a CoronaOutput map and make sure 'Affected by Tone Mapping' is disabled (which it is by default). That way, your original image will remain untouched. However, you need to re-render everytime you change the VFB settings, both in IR and final rendering modes.

Thanks!

I'd actually done everything you said in another attempt except re-render when changing the settings. What you've said has worked perfectly so thank's a lot.

Besides that, it looks like you're using the background map as scene light in an "incorrectly" way, that will give problems in reflections and shadows. So I would advise to use the map (via Corona Output as described by pokoy) as background by putting it in the "direct" override slot, and then set up the scenelight with sky/sun or a spherical HDRI.

Hope it helps
