Hi,

This may be a stupid question. I am having some stability issues with complicated scenes. Is there an option somewhere to switch corona to render in bucket mode rather than full progressive mode?

Thanks,

Phil

Sorry, but no, and there are no plans to ever introduce it.
What kind of issues do you have? Maybe we can help about it without buckets. ;)

I have create artists impressions of internal and external developments for a hotel operator. The models are complex with lots of lights on internals and hi poly counts on externals. I run in to lots of crashes with corona normally when the noise level gets down to around 4%. I have been trying corona on a few different machines (all mac) and have the same issue across the board. My main machine is a 27inch 5K iMac, 32g ram, 4ghz i7.

The results from Corona are really impressive but the crashes are killing my workflow as renders I leave going overnight are more often than not crashing before the morning.

Thanks,

Phil

then i suppose you post the crash logs here...
this will help the devs to find the issue
sending the scene (in private if needed) will help them even more

Hi,

Yes, using the latest version (2017-07-24).

Just to give a bit more detail, the crash I get is that cinema/corona seems to freeze and I am left with a spinning wheel until I force quit cinema. I am happy to post crash logs if they help, where do I find them?

thanks,

Phil

crashes are not caused by using progressive/bucket modes, they must be unrelated to this...
Rendering is magic. How to get minidumps for crashed/frozen 3ds Max | Sorry for short replies, brief responses = more time to develop Corona ;)

you can try open your c4d preferences, there click the button "open preferences folder",
then check the _bugreports folder... but with a spinning wheel there may be nothing, as it hangs forever...

Hi,

Would it be possible to send us a minimal (simplified as much as possible) scene which still causes the crashes? It doesn't have to be the scene of the hotel it can be any scene which causes your problems. We need to reproduce the problem somehow to be able to fix it. Thank you

Nikola
