I've been using Corona since the early alpha days and I love it. We have been using corona at the studio I work for since then as well. I've been using the free alpha version in the 3D class i teach in the school of architecture at a university. Its so easy to teach and produces great results to those that are just learning. The version Alpha 6 doesn't work inside of 3ds Max 2017 which is what all the students have now. I am aware of the 45 day trial, but that will end before the semester is over. Is there a version of corona that I can have the students use that will last to end of the semester? Otherwise I'll have to have everyone either downgrade to 2016 or teach another renderer built into Max, which I can do, it's just not as easy or user friendly to new comers.

Thanks

Hi,
there is educational licence of Corona. Take a look here for more info on how to apply for it: https://corona-renderer.com/prices-licensing/student/
I'm not Corona Team member. Everything i say, is my personal opinion only.

PM'ed to say:

Hi! You can contact me at grimes@corona-renderer.com to discuss further.

The best solution would be the Educational/Student license - while it isn't free, at 24.99 Euro for a year it costs no more than a textbook, and can be used commercially so could easily pay for itself.

The educational pricing is listed here:
https://corona-renderer.com/prices-licensing/

And information about it is here:
https://corona-renderer.com/prices-licensing/student/

The free Alpha 6 is of course provided "as is" since it would cost money (development time) to update it for Max 2017, and of course Corona has come a long, long way since the A6 version so it's not even really the same program any more - with the educational license, you and your students would be able to take advantage of Denoising, LightMix, greatly improved render times, PBR shading, VFB post processing like LUTs, bloom & glare etc, and much more.

Hope this helps!

   Thanks!
