Hi there,

I just moved from Max 2014 to Max 2017.
Do you suggest changing any Max's default parameter such as exposure control?
Or the corona VFB overrides everything?

Sorry, but I am not sure what exactly you mean. Generally there is no need to change any default Max options other than bitmap paging. But you should get a warning message about it anyway: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000675862

Any wrong settings, such as gamma, will also give you errors with descriptions how to fix.

Ok. Yes, thanks. I think that answers my question.

I spent so long in 3ds max 2014 that I wasn't sure whether I needed to change the defaults in Max 2017 (gamma and other stuff).

I changed "Default lights" in viewport setting from "1 Default light" to "2 Default light"
The Objects that are assigned 'show shaded' material will be invisible if I use "1 Default light".

Thanks.
Another new thing to me is that every time I create a camera I need to turn "Exposure Control" to "no exposure control" in environment and effects.
Otherwise I can't control Corona's VFB's exposure interactively.

Is this the correct workflow?

If you don't want to create a physical camera from view, you can go to Create > Cameras > Standard Camera from View. A bit cumbersome, but useful, especially if you don't really like the physical camera. ;)

When i create physical camera, it never turns on exposure control. I guess it depends on your defaults and UI switcher settings.

I do want to use Physical camera, but I want to control the exposure from the frame buffer in real time.

Max's setting in Exposure Control is by default "physical camera exposure control" (and for some reason in my installation it's the default every time I create a camera!:/ ).

My question is, being the physical camera new to Max, would you say that having Max's exposure control on <No exposure control> is the way to go?

Hi. Personally I would never use Max's exposure control in combination with Coronas exposure control. So I would always set Max to "no exposure control".
