Is anyone experiencing odd behavior when rendering high res (4k+)? Using Corona and rendering pretty much anything of higher resolution the VFB gets quite laggy and there are some weird freezes going on every couple of seconds.

Anyone else getting the same thing? :)

Hi, do you use Windows or macOS version of Corona? Other users already reported this problem earlier, but we still can't reliably reproduce this bug so I would like to ask you what is the exact procedure to reproduce it? Thank you

@nikolat,

That would actually be on Windows, 8.1 to be precise.

I haven't quite nailed it down as to when it happens and I'll report back once I have more concrete info.

On a side note, and it might be connected to the first issue too, the VFB is going a little bit crazy with bloom & glare - crazy as in it sometimes flickers. It isn't reliable as sometimes it doesn't even show up for 10 seconds while if you turn it on or off it takes 1 second to initialize.

the flickering or goin crazy is not actually a but.. this is caused by turning ob bloom/glare during rendering and the flickering is just the update frequenzy on your VFB when adding new pixles+adding the effect..

simple solution would be to turn it off while rendering inside the VFB or before by unchecking the box in the rendersettings and adding it after the render is complete (or stopped) and already denoised. since the VFB letz you change a lot of setting after the render is complete - hell, you can even change the entire lighting via lightmix after you are done ..

hope this helps :)

@NkilarI've had similar problems with B&G - as hog0 says its better once the render has completed but it's still not great. I don't know if this is an issue in max too?

B&G used to slow the render down quite dramatically if it was on with earlier versions of the RC's but it's better now, I still think it slows it down but not sure to what extent.

Hi, thank you for testing the Corona and helping us to find the bugs but would it be possible to connect to your computer remotely? It would be the fastest solution to fix your problems in this case (don't be afraid, you will see everything I am doing).

Can Someone please help me, whenever i create a proxy and reload it, the objects reloads without the materials, am i doing something wrong? i need to create proxies for my Viz-Park Tree collection. If you are familiar with these models, they are pretty heavy files and each tree is a single objects with 3 or so selection tags but no matter what i try the materials do not reload along with the proxy. the proxy only contains geonometrie without materials. in order to get materials too you need to follow something like this (i personally use option 2):

preperation - group your corona proxy-mesh objetcs together in a null object so you only have 1 object to care about and assign the materials you want on the proxys from the real objetc to the proxy-mesh objects. remeber to save the proxy-mesh files in a seperate folder that does not change location or you will have to reassign the mesh every time you import the proxy... (for example make a folder on C:\Corona Proxys\ and export all proxymeshes into this folder before starting to follow option 1 or 2. you should also consider to assign correct names to those meshes when exporting, you never know if you need to create new proxys again so dont just name them 1,2,3.. but rather ViZPark_tree_XX_leaves1, HQTreesVol2_tree_XX_trunk, ...

option 1 - delete the original object, so that you only have the proxy one with mats left and save it as c4d file to some folder - you can copy/past it with its materials in any scene later.

option 2 - create a new lib4d and drag the null object with the proxys that have materials assigned inside. you can now import this proxy with all mats into any scene from the contentbrowser.

Thank you both (hog0 and 4b4) for responding!

It is currently not working as it should because even after stopping the render the bloom & glare is randomly on and off. In 3ds max for example, the bloom and glare is constant even when rendering.

@nikolat, now I am pretty much getting the issue of a slow VFB constantly. It also freezes c4d at moments. Odd behaviour and really hard to reproduce.

yeah, you're right about the B&G, since I posted my comments I've watched the excellent interior project that's been posted and watching the B&G interaction with max in part 6 confirms there's some way to go to match the speed of the max version when adjusting it in C4D.

+1 for the VFB too, out of interest do you sometimes still get 100% or thereabouts CPU usage when you've cancelled a render - sometimes it appears to me like there are 2 render instances, and that can lead to irrecoverable freezes. Eg. you cancel a render, start a new one but it doesn't kill the old render off before starting the new one.

@4b4,

Actually I don't think I get that no. The VFB experience is laggy as it is so its hard to tell :) It is working awesomely when its smooth though! Can't wait to see how the implementation continues :)

Hey,
Has this been solved already? I have no issues running this version on 10.12.2 Sierra with Cinema 4D R18.

Btw, I'm new here and still learning Corona. It looks easy to learn and quite interactive.
