Print size

Good day all,
This one I can't get over. I am currently working on a render that needs to be print 42 inches by 36 inches. Would a 3K or 4K render resolution be sufficient for the print or do I need to up the resolution?

Max has a lovely tool for this called print size assistant under the rendering menu.
As long as you know the size and resolution you want to print at it will set it at optimal resolution.
