I am trying to render a scene with a backplate which I would normally use with a background object..no luck.. How do you render a car with hdr environment with shadows on the ground and a backplate photo?

My everyday workflow (physical render) would be adding the hdr to the sky object, using the background object for the backplate photo and the shadowcatcher in R18. Please guide me for Corona..

Regards

Some tutorials for this, e.g. using the new Dome mapping mode:

And a set of 5 Shadowcatcher tutorials, here's part 2 about HDRI and backplates:

Hope this helps!

That's what I get for using the Unread Posts option :)

The shadowcatcher isn't in C4D until A7, as noted on the roadmap:

Though not tested myself, one user posted a way they have been doing it at present:

Thanks for the reply, yes I used an hemisphere object with frontal projection of the backplate photo and it works.. Used corona compositing tag for it also but somehow I see strange artifacts.. I will post an example soon.

I know that this is pretty old, but it looks like the mistake here was the backplate material. How was it made? It should definitely not be shaded in any way.

Hello I am new first post I think I came up with a way for now that is pretty close. Set it up real close to a VRAY setup. I am at work so I will post my way when I get home . Just try a plane for the floor and a plane for the backplate. Apply you backplate material to each and use frontal mapping for both. http://i.imgur.com/zedBsML.png
