Does anyone else have this same issue?

I run corona 1.1 most of the time for working because I can leave the interactive render running and I don't get a stall whenever a make a change in my scene.

In every version after 1.1 I get a stall when I move a light or change a setting. It's very difficult to work that way by comparison.

There's a lag when rendering through a physical camera, if you're using it, switch to perspective view to see if that helps.

Thanks.

Don't think that's what I'm talking about. this is the UI of max hanging every time I tweak something (such as move an object or light) as the interactive renderer is running.

afaik, it never makes max hanging, is your scene a big scene with UHDcache ?
usually I use IR to setup objects materials, hide whole objects and keep the current object show to setup with environment HDRI lighting. and to setup the rooms lighting with hiding objects inside it which isn't really matter or heavy like carpets. but I never realized that IR is lighter in 1.1
or you can post a video to show the comparison to development team.

edit: have you check the IR threads limit in rendersetup>performance tab> performance setting>InteractiveRendering  ?

IR should not be slower in newer versions. What is your CPU?

I would try this:

I have the same issue. In earlier versions it was awesome. Now it is pretty useless to me because (as you say) everytime I move a light, change a value, move geometry, move the sun, pretty much anything I change, max freezes and I have to wait around 10 senconds to get it working again. And this is true for heavy as well as light scenes. With a Brand new scene and a simple model with an override material, whenever I move the sun max freezes. It was awesome till 1.2, from 1.3 on I've been having this issue. I have a 8350, 32gb 2400mhz, ssd, asus crosshair v formula z, gtx 1080, 850w antec, everything watercooled.

It would be great if we could get a collection of minidumps for those freezes, i would be really interested to know what is causing them
Rendering is magic. How to get minidumps for crashed/frozen 3ds Max | Sorry for short replies, brief responses = more time to develop Corona ;)

And here is how to collect minidumps in case you are not familiar with it: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000524006

- Great guys! thanks for responses.

So Max is never crashing when I have this issue, it's just 10second hang everytime I move / change something inside the scene while interactive preview is running. (Does this still create a minidump ?)

I think Totinguis and I have the same issue.

Happens regardless of the material editor being open / regardless of the material editor being set to render previews or not.

It seems as though corona is giving processor priority to the renderer rather than the UI which is counter productive (just a guess)

My computer has a lot of cores maybe that is the thing that's unusual about my set up?

2x Intel Xeon E5-2690 @ 3.00ghz so there are 40 cores.
64gb ram
3dsmax 2016

Will try and figure out how to share minidumps

you can still create a minidump, you just have to be quick - see #2 in the guide

The steps mentioned in the article worked for numerous people with similar problems, me included.
