Ok after a year of using this, I now realize this render has hidden anomalies that when they occur, you're going to get really Pissed off. I really can't even be bothered to list them all.

Well if no one can be bothered to report them I guess they are not going to be fixed. So ... I'm not sure what the purpose of this post is then
Any sufficiently advanced bug is indistinguishable from a feature.

Well, ok I'll report the most recent one..

Did a displacement test, at 0.2 pixels. Zoomed in pretty close to my plane. So yeah, there's going to be some waiting here I accept that.

Next thing you know the computer crashes.... nothing strange, nothing new.

So I reset the computer, and load up my scene again.

And now. My textures are loading with different output values.... one would be brighter than the other. It's just ridiculous. What has happened. Yep.

And it's also removed all history from the ''recent places'' when I go to open a file. Few other little things have occurred because of this displacement test.

I'm just here to piss and moan that's all. Venting my frustrations. I pay for this crap.

Hi, displacement quality set to 0.2px is a really extreme setting. Could you tell a bit more about the scene - what kind of mesh did you displace? Was it a simple plane, or something complex? What kind of map was used as displacement? (what file format, Max bitmap/Corona bitmap, procedural?)

It looks like your system ran out of RAM, and because of that 3ds Max crashed. How much RAM do you have?
The textures with different output values - that's really strange, but it could be due to file corruption.
The reset of "recent places" could mean that your 3ds Max user settings got erased/reset. You could try going to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2015 - 64bit\ENU and see if there is any backup with your old settings in there.

"Venting your frustration", won't help anybody, except you (maybe). Making bug reports out of those abnormalities will help to make Corona even more stable and robust and that will be beneficial for everybody, including you (definitely).
I'm not Corona Team member. Everything i say, is my personal opinion only.

Please understand what you are doing here.
You are subdividing a mech down to only 20% of a pixel, then diving it up into triangles for embree and expecting for all that to fit in ram...
Just no way regardless how simple your geometry is.

Show the scene. If you want to subdivide it that far, maybe you mistook blurry displacements with textureftering, when setting up displacement map?

Also, corona does not have out of core rendering, to fully speedup renders utilizing Intel embree. If it doesn't fit in ram, it won't swap like vray back and forth.
It will page to pagefile, lockup and crash.
That is the price you pay for speed. If it doesn't fit into ram, it won't run.

But then again its scene specific like always, provide scene file if you want, many people here will take a look and help.
