Hi Corona Forum

I had some Problems with program freezes. It happened every second time i've hit the renderbutton. My Scene was not big or something. Just Some architekture and 3 Laubwerk Trees. I've displayed them as Proxys in the viewport (pointcloud and simplified). Both versions caused max to freeze. After displaying them as full geomety there were no crashes anymore. So obvious ist been the Proxys. I have 32 GB of Ram and the Scene could not fill it. So this was not the reason. I've contacted the Laubwerk guys allready. I think it would help if some others had the same experience and share it. So corona and/ or Laubwerk might fix the Problem.

For now i just bake the trees and covert them to corona Proxys. But this should not be thesolution of this Problem. I like the flexibility of the Laubwerk trees. And baking them is contraproductive.

Regards

Gregor

Hi, I remember similar problems when testing Laubwerk plugins in the A7 times. Can you check if it also freezes if you don't have any Laubwerk object selected in the viewport? (best would be to just not select anything)

It happened every second time i've hit the renderbutton.

Then you had every second time a tree selected and the modify panel open :) It freezes reproducable while scene parsing in this case. And it should render reproducable if not :) You may want to test it.

The only reason to bake LW-Trees (or convert them to proxies) at the moment is using "Leaf Density" combined with (Corona) distributed rendering because every slave will render different sets of leaves in this case. But Laubwerk promised to fix this.

Good Luck
Never underestimate the power of a well placed level one spell.

Thanks for your replies Maru and frood.

I've Tested it this morning. Indeed, It just occurs if the LW tree is selected. I informed LW about this Problem as well. Hope they fix it soon.

Thanks for the Information with animatoin or DR Rendering. good to know, that there are some Problems.

The problem of Laubwerk plugin freezing 3ds Max has been recently solved by Laubwerk developers. Please see the following report for more details:
https://corona-renderer.com/bugs/view.php?id=1144

You can download and test the newest beta version of the Laubwerk plugin using the link below, however keep in mind that any problems or bug reports should be sent to Laubwerk, not to us:
