Nice, the second pic looks like someone wanted to have some Quake3 elements integrated into his room. ;)
Why is everything so extremely sharpened? Is it meant to be viewed reduced? The filter also sharpens noise.

Yes, it seems that i have to go easy on the sharpen filter(only thing why i am still using sharpen on my renders is that i like how the metallish reflections start to look with it).

Actualy the 2nd image caused unexpected rendertime isues i could not solve. for some reson 2 PC came up only with 220 pases during the night. And i think it might be because of two things 1 - carpaint method glossy wood 2 - glass on the whishkey jars something was totaly wrong with it. Not with the mtl but with geometry itself.

How are all the fancy lights made?

Those all are corona lights with different temperature fore example on the second image i used 1300K value inside the cabin. There is only one ight mtl with switched of imission on the lusters on the 2nd image just to make those lightbulbs look properly. For the lights on the first image i also used spherical corona lights inside the bulbs and glass texture with minor bump (procedural dent) to make blurred light effect.
