For some reason the shadows are very dark. What kind of lighting are you using? Can you tell us more about the scene and show some viewport screenshots?

For the start add corona sky to the enviroment slot, you can also do this by pressng this button in the corona sun properties.

And remove the plane from the ceeleng i remember that i used this method last time when i was using 3dsMAX 6 and scanline renderer.

And chek out these tutorials, them might be helpfull.

Yup, adding sky is definitely useful and will help increase realism. You can play around with sun's and sky's parameters and see what you like more. Using interactive rendering can make it real fun. Do not use the "fake" lighting such as that rectangle, unless you really need it for some artistic purposes. Photographers also use mattes and reflectors to light the subject, so I guess this shouldn't be "banned". :)

Additionally this scene looks like it is done to showcase portals. Try two portals at the windows to speed up your rendering:

Good Luck!

Never underestimate the power of a well placed level one spell.

While i am still here.

Try to set up a photoraphic exposure and set up paremeters like if it would be an interior photo - for example ISO 100 Fstop - 2.8 Shutter 1\30 And then ajust the lithing till you get a decent result.

I think it looks much better and is getting a nice warm morning/evening feeling. I think you could further increase exposure.
