Render selection - material error

what do you have set up as "Area to Render" in common render setup tab?

I cannot reproduce it. Either user error, or needs more info how to do it. Claudyo, if it's reproducible for you, can you share step-by-step instructions (1, 2, 3,....) how to do it?

at render selected as it sees, I set "viewport selection", and in the common tab, I have "selected", as it should.., and selected an object in the scene viewport (vitra chair).

You shouldn't select selected in common tab. All it does is isolates selected object from a rest of the scene, so there's no walls, floor or ceiling to cull eniroment lighting and your chair gets overexposed. Select view, region or blow out - depending on your needs. Corona's render selected works independently from those modes.
