MSI GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER GAMING X 8GB (14000Mhz) - I choose that piece because is quiet and it´s possible to use that in interactive rendering (if I´m right).

You can't use a GPU for interactive rendering. Corona uses only CPU. But you can use it for denoising, but you don't need an expensive GPU for denoising.
You can also use a a good GPU maybe for Arnold GPU or other renderers and 2d software like Davinci Resolve.

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Parallax Mapping ? :)

It's also worth to mention, that parallax in Fstorm looks so good mainly because of self-shadowing and i don't know if 7 years ago there was a single example of paralllax with self-shadowing, so it's not fair to blame Ondra on his statement. Without self-shadowing, parallax really is nothing more than some gimmick from game industry.

Not sure if you meant in game engines or renderers but you can see it in this trailer at minute 1.0 showcasing parallax with self-shadowing for cryengine 2 launched in 2007.

In reality at least, it's a combination of factors. Like how underexposed is the image, where is the sun ? in front, or behind the camera ? Or using a polarizer filter (translation for a 3d render : use post processing or separate controls for sky).
Even the lens size can be a contributor factor, like if the lens is very wide or tele. With very wide you can get a stronger gradient, from a bright blue to dark.

Hardware / Re: Laptops for 3d beginner, photo/video editing

I think it's kind of hard to find a new laptop recently made and with good specs, with a large screen but also not 4k.
But that lower resolution should help and make the laptop more snappy.
Also since you are not interested in gaming and high refresh rates, the display should be IPS, for better colors and viewing angles.

16 GB should be enough for learning, but it would be better if those 16 GB could be upgraded down the line.  I have a second machine with just 8 GB, I use it sometimes for learning in 3ds max, even heavy game engines and other programs and it works just fine for that. I even did professional books covers with high resolution and tons of layers, but that was pushing the limits on 8 GB.

Not sure if that old rule still applies, where if you use the computer for a lot of video and photo editing, 3d modeling - you should prioritize a CPU with a high single thread performance.

I also vote for a RTX card, it will probably be a better investment in the long run.

Guys, let's not forget that there was a tragedy in between.
On top of the low morale at certain point, it's a small team too.
Changing the roadmap is totally understandable under those circumstances.

It's too bad there's not a "plus" or "thumbs-up" button under this post :)

As far as I remember in some old version of Corona this was possible.
And after a quick search seems I found a text confirming this:
"It's technically possible to do it, but for stability reasons, Vlado decided that vray would not be able to interact while rendering. Other engines line corona leaves this possibility to their users."

It has a nice atmosphere.

jpg is lossy, but if you are rendering temp animations it should be fine. The size can be very small and convenient for fast managing, while having a reasonable quality. PNG is lossless and can also have small sizes but it's more taxing on the CPU.

You probably already know that, but if you have that low amount of ram, you have to close every other program when you work in 3ds max. That means no Chrome open, maybe not even many folders open at the same time.

I really don't undested why they have to change ALL the icons every new version (...) ..

You can change even the latest 3ds max versions - to have the old icons if you want.

The image Corona_GK posted does seem to show the circle effect, but not as pronounced as the circles you get in reality.
Now I'm curious myself if renderers can simulate that circle shape of the sun in the shadows.

I'm not sure if the issue will still be present, but when you use certain zoom values in Photoshop, the image is not aliased anymore. When I want a clear picture I use the ALT CTRL  and plus minus from numpad for zoom, and not the mouse wheel.

100%, 50%, 25% would behave more like a 1:1 scaling. And maybe also 75%, 66.67%, 33.33%. These values will be automatically used if you use those keyboard shortcuts.

Which one of the materials that come with max did you have in mind?

I have no idea, I haven't worked with OSL maps yet, but I read this discussion:

What about using OSL ? OSL was supposed to be the easy programmable solution for almost any problem.

Maybe there's already a shader for that.

What about rendering with scanline and compositing after ?
