This one helped me with fur. I think fur is the way to go to create the effect you want.

Very nicely done. How did you do the cactus? I think the cat is bit weird, his shape from behind on the ground is hard to read.

Lovely image. Your plants and nature looks really good. I spotted a parrot and a turtle. The water in the first shot looks a bit of, looks like the wavy patterns in the water are to smooth or something.
