DR caused this error at beginning of render:

I've found a strange behavior of CoronaLights sampling algorithm. Look at this piture and scene attached. There are areas with good and bad sampling mixed. Is it a bug or may be I'm doing somthin wrong?

Hardware / CPUs with 64+ cores

Is anyone knows how Corona utilises more than 64 cores as there is more than one Processor Group in Windows. I remember than VRay had a problem with this. I want to buy 18-core dual CPU Xeon want to use all of them in Corona. Is there any issues with it?

Resolved bugs / Reflection bug - ugly distortion

Found strange bug with reflection. Near 0 degrees angle there is an ugly distortion in reflection present.

Look at video.
There are only plane with "mirror" reflection and sphere with light material. As the camera going down to nearly lay on the plane reflection distorts.

Resolved bugs / 1.3 Proxy mapping error

I faced strange proxy behavior in 1.3

Some proxies (.cbin) have no mapping coordinates in 1.3. I rolled back to 1.2 and the same proxies are good with mapping coordinates. I hope no one will "help" me with advice to convert all my proxies in all projects to newer format!

Resolved bugs / Long scene parsing 1.3

In previous versions (pre 1.3) of Corona it was "normal" to expect long (~4 min) scene parsing with backburner network rendering. But in 1.3 it grows up to impossible 6-8 minutes. Plus 3dsmax.exe process seems to be freezed as it can't be closed even by task manager for some time (at least in DR mode).

On pictures you can see scene rendered with 1 minute time limit. Scene parsing takes up to 8 minutes at random frames and servers. No DR used.

I can't load old (pre 1.2) scenes with Corona sun on my PC in 3ds max 2014 and 2015. Max cause error on loading scene. I can load it in 3ds max 2013 on my PC. I can load it on another PC without any problems. But simple scene with Corona sun not loding in 1.2 on my PC in 2014 and 2015.

General Discussion / Color in Corona

I found strange thing doing simple test of colored lighting. As color theory states color of object is part of light reflected back to us.

So If we'll light perfectly reflective surface with perfectly white color it will give us all the light back (in diffuse or specular way) and we'll see white (or mirror) object. But if surface absorbs some wavelength it will give us some color reflected. For example if we have object that absorbs red color it will reflect to us some kind of cyan color, or if object seen as red it tells us that green and blue colors absorbed. So...if we'll take perfectly green (as we see) colored object it has to absorb red and blue colors, right?

Test. Corona. Green sphere lit by red and blue lamps. We see sphere lit by them. WHY???

As soon as we haven't adaptive sampling for DoF and Motion blur I think it will be useful to have an override intensity for reflections/refractions in Corona sun. It is pain in @ss to avoid sun reflections in DoF and MB as we can't sample it till smooth enough.

It would be great to have texture that work like a VrayDistance map.

The big cool feature of Corona is fast DoF and MB. But with very bright spots sampling of this effects is unacceptable. Is there any chance to see IS integrated in this effects?

upd.: (or may be another sampler like QMC if therŅƒ is simple random sampler)

I need help / License server and home PC

We have bought FairSaaS licenses for our office PC's and some of our workers wanted to do some work at home. How it is possible to use FairSaaS licenses with license server at office and with home PC? Do they have to close 3ds max copies at office PC and run it at home? Or may be turn off office PC?

Resolved feature requests / Render region in IR

IR is beatiful! But if we want to setup materials or smth else from camera for example we have to wait whole picture to render just because of one small part of it changes. Another scenario is 1:1 region of big picture to setup materials. Now we can't render region to see the changes in small part of it.

Is it possible to implement region support for IR?
