[Max] I need help! / Rendering animation in Vantage.
« on: 2025-07-01, 16:56:17 »
Hi!

I do a lot of nautic visualizations and animations and I was wondering how I can render the 3ds max animation I made in Vantage WITH use of a waterplane. Is there a workaround to add this inside vantage somehow, because using a plane with a phoenix oceantex doesnt translate to vantage.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / New Framebuffer Issues
« on: 2024-11-28, 11:35:42 »
Hi!

I've been working with Corona 12 the past week and I've encountered a lot of issues with the new framebuffer while working: it's not responding to commands while (interactive) rendering, can't disable region rendering, can't use the zoom dropdown, frame buffer doesn't show any image unless I click and zoom somehow, etc etc.

Corona is also crashing serveral times per day when starting a render.

I also work in 3ds max and none of these issues are apparent over there.

In general it has became very buggy and VERY annoying to work with (in c4d).
Sorry for the negativity, but I need to get shit done so the software needs to be reliable.

I feel your pain. When updating to C10 I've made this topic about it https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=40809.0

I could guess whatever the reason could be, but I don't know anything about programming or whatsoever.

I sucks nevertheless, all the new stuff is a lot of fun but finishing renders faster is the most fun :)

[C4D] General Discussion / Corona 12 - c4d vs 3dsmax

First of all thanks for all the hard work. Really happy with curved decals and all the other improvements.

BUT (don't want to complain)

Why don't we -as c4d users- get the scatter instance brush option. It was just this option that I was looking out for. Is it due to technical difficulties that it isn't possible to implement this option into c4d or is it planned to be there in some update later on?

[C4D] Feature Requests / Layerset inside CBitmap
« on: 2023-11-02, 12:36:13 »
Hi

Would it be possible to get the layerset option when loading a PSD file inside a CoronaBitmap? I like to use just one psd for all my bitmaps / alphas etc. When loading the psd in a texture slot without a CoronaBitmap shader the option is there, but it's gone once merged inside a CoronaBitmap.

Edit - posted this in the wrong forum. Would you be so kind and move this to "Feature Requests" TNX!

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Re: Corona 10 Very Slow
« on: 2023-11-02, 11:34:05 »
Did you put all used bitmaps inside a CoronaBitmap shader?

In one of my scenes where the rendertime went up from 1h20 in C9 to 2h28 in C10 I've managed to get it down again to 1h40 by just using the CoronaBitmap shader for (most of) the bitmaps.

Is there any news about this?

I think there is an issue with the triplanar / mapping randomizer (either one or in combo) which takes a lot of computing power. I also saw similar reports in the max forum.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Re: Corona 10 slower than Corona 9
« on: 2023-09-05, 10:12:36 »
Hi!
I've been using Corona 10 for rendering for some time, but I noticed that it slowed down very much when rendering and with large scenes these times are even several hours, where after optimization to 3k resolution, the time rarely exceeded 2 hours for me. Now, those times are much longer. Today I did a test of a simple packshot scene on Corona 9 and Corona 10 and I was very surprised because it is slower and twice as many rays on Corona 10. Below I am posting a photo with statistics. Have any of you had similar experiences with Corona 10?

My setup Cinema r20, Mac OS Catalina,

I also made a post about it, please send over your scenes to the devs so they can fix this horrible update.

Personally I'd suggest setting things up so you can use a multiloader, see https://docs.chaos.com/display/CRMAX/Multiloaders

You could then either
- Leave 10 as the default when you run Max, with a little icon for the script that starts Max with 9 as the exception, or
- Remove 10, install 9 as default when you run Max, then add 10 as the exception run from the script

Hope this helps!

(PS I prefer to have newest as default, older version as scripted start)

Sounds like a good idea, but does this also apply to C4D?

Hi Tom, thanks!

I've made a ticket and uploaded the scene. As I do a lot of bottles with heavy use of caustics, maybe the new caustics solver has to do something with it?

When I want to revert to Corona 9, can I simply grab that installer or do I need to remove Corona 10 from the system first?

TNX!

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Corona 10 Very Slow
« on: 2023-08-24, 15:15:55 »
Hi,

I found Corona 10 to be very laggy and slow on different facets of the engine. I've opened an old scene that rendered in 1h15m in C9. With C10 it is almost two hours. Quite unacceptable if you ask me. Also the IR is buggy. Hangs when making changes to lights etc, and when trying to stop the engine then it seems to stuck.

Maybe I can upload one of my scenes for the devs to look at?

Thanks!

Hey!
That seems very odd indeed, and tried to get that error out of the bottle so I already did some testing prior to the rendering. Everything seems normal in a simple scene lit with a HDRI, also when I place a 3ds max capsule in place of the bottle with the same material attached (and ofcourse basic corona physical water preset) I get the same result. So I ended up just accepting this.

Nevertheless, thanks for noticing!
